We are currently months into the COVID-19 crisis and subsequent switch to delivering services to torture survivors via telehealth. Many SoT programs quickly adapted to the change and have sorted through the initial stages of providing telehealth by choosing and implementing a platform, figuring out logistics and creating informed consent forms.
As the crisis continues, more nuanced questions and dilemmas specific to delivery of service is this format with the SoT population are inevitable and emerging. While there seemingly has been a proliferation of general telehealth training offerings since the COVID-19 crisis began, there appears to be very little, if any, trainings or literature on providing telehealth to torture survivors. If there are materials/trainings out there, please let us know here!
Building on the video presentation and interview of Eugene Augusterfer’s Telemedicine in Mental Health (which we encourage you to view), NCB is providing an opportunity for clinicians to ask each other questions, share observations and adapted telehealth protocols for the SoT population via an online forum and technical exchange. This conversation will be a forum for peer-led informational exchange. NCB staff will assist in facilitating and monitoring the conversation.
